Ace of Escape has been hosting team building events for groups large and small, young & old, alike with our 5 funtastic themed escape rooms in downtown Tucson. BUT… It’s about to get even better with two competing “Dorm Room” themes opening in August just in time for back to school.
Your teams can choose to either compete against each other for faster escapes OR work together via skype to solve each mission. Groups of four will enter either the Ace State University Dorm room or the University of Ace Dorm room to capture their rival school’s mascot, Sparks & Wildbor respectively.
The missions won’t be accomplished so easily because the students are up to your evil plan have stored the codes to their locked up mascots on a hidden USB drive. We think your groups will need more than 60 minutes to complete this mission, so groups get an extra 5 minutes on the clock.

As mothers of two children each here in Tucson, we know it is hard to find truly fun activities that both parents and kids can enjoy. That is even harder when trying to include grandparents or extended family or trying to appease teens and younger children at the same time. At Ace of Escape we love seeing families come in and tackle solving a room and solving the problem of how do we have fun all together.
Escape rooms are a great activity for any generation. Everyone enjoys the experience of working together in a productive way to accomplish a group goal. Being in an escape room takes everyone away from their distractions of work, school, mobile phone, video games, and puts everyone in the same place with the same agenda.
Finding something to do with the Tucson heat and something fun has now been solved. Ace of Escape is family friendly and we welcome you to come on in and see how much fun your family will have finding clues and solving puzzles.

Spring Break season for the kids is already upon us, and if you are like many parents, you are looking for ways to keep the kids & teenagers busy and entertained. Getting the kids out of the house is always ideal, but if you have lived in Tucson for a while, you may be out of new things to do.
The owners of Ace of Escape, two mother’s of kids from ages 5 to 12, feel the pressure too from our kids asking what they can do. Beyond getting our kids out for some of the beautiful nature in the area, we have done almost all the museums, zoos and other activities. #1 Nature Hikes: Madera Canyon, Tanque Verde Falls, and Sabina Canyon are our favorites with running streams which keep our desert kids amazed!
#2 Ace of Escape: Have fun challenging your kids’ brains and working as a team. Immerse yourselves in a themed room and see if you can unlock all the secrets to escape within 60 minutes. Our staff is friendly and accommodating for all age groups. No one is really “locked in” and it’s not a scary experience, but rather a fun mystery that will leave your kids talking about it for hours and begging to come back. Parents are welcome to join their kids in the room or we can accommodate a kids or teens only experience in a room. Open from 10AM to 8PM throughout the week, our kids can come in for just 1 or do multiple rooms and make a day of it!
#3 PlayFormance: Just up the street from us at Ace of Escape, is an awesome kids and tween camp with flexible time slots and tons of activities for the kids only, while you take a break and enjoy that they are having an amazing time. Let your kids have fun the whole day, half day or other hours running through obstacle courses, playing around, doing arts and crafts, or so much more. Your kids will be begging to go back! Playformance runs multiple camps throughout the spring break weeks of many different schools.
#4 Sew Hip Tucson: Is your child crafty or been looking to learn to sew? Check out Sew Hip’s Spring Break Camp March 20th to March 23rd.
#5 Rocks and Ropes: Also close to Ace of Escape in downtown Tucson, Rocks and Ropes is great way to keep your kids active during spring break and develop their climbing skills. Whether new to climbing or experienced, it’s always a fun day to get on a wall at Rocks and Ropes and push yourself to the next level. Kids are always amazing to watch climbing and it’s wonderful to see them amazed in themselves. Kids love being able to have the freedom to climb in a place like Rocks and Ropes when so many times they are told to “get down” out there in the real world. Rocks and Ropes is a safe and fun way to spend a spring break day!

Ace of Escape is officially open for business at our new bigger location in downtown Tucson: 406 N. Church Ave.
This new Tucson location currently features 5 themed escape rooms and can host groups up to 50 people at one time. Perfect for holiday outings for groups big and small. We have an on-site parking lot on the east side of our building off 9th Ave and there is free 2 hour street parking as well along 9th Ave.
After escape room activities are within walking distance. Enjoy lunch at PieBird or dinner at El Charro. Have a beer at Barrio Brewery. Or check out the various art galleries nearby including Conrad Wilde Gallery and Solar Culture.

Ace of Escape is moving…again. It’s time for Ace of Escape to expand and consolidate! Running two locations has been fun and a lot of work, but we have found a new space to call home for all our themed rooms and even more: 406 N. Church Ave.
Located downtown, our new 4,000 square foot space will initially host: Beat the Clock, International Thief, Illusionist and Bad Medicine as well as a Christmas themed room. The new location will be open starting November 24th, 2017!

At Ace of Escape (Tucson, AZ) we love to see our customers enjoy their first time escape experience. Customers often have no idea what they are about to get themselves into. Is it scary? Am I just locked up and I got to break my way out? I’m smart so I should escape no problem right?
Well, the answer to all three questions is no. At Ace of Escape, we like to compare doing an escape room for the first time to being asked to play a board game that you have never played before so you do not yet know the rules nor strategies nor goal for the room.
We like to provide a few pointers to help customers catch on a bit faster before they enter the rooms. First, universally most room rules are basically to not do anything dangerous which include lifting heavy items, using excessive force, or climbing on furniture. Beyond safety, these rules actually help you save time. We once had a customer spend their first 30 minutes moving every piece of furniture despite being told there was no need to!
Strategy wise, we say escape rooms are about FINDING, OBSERVING, and most importantly SOLVING puzzles. So during the finding stage we encourage customers to be thorough, spread out, open things up, look under things and be sure they have checked everywhere reasonable.
Then when it comes to observing and a team member finds something they feel is important, or “must mean something”, we highly recommend communicating it to the whole team and start some type of organization system so if that item or piece of information is needed later, it can easily be found.
Most importantly, in our escape rooms, is solving puzzles. Team members are never going to just find a word or number that will help them escape, nor will they be able to just start guessing their way out. Instead, escape teams look at all the pieces of information and objects they’ve found so far and figure out how to put them all together to create combination to open a series of locks. Team members must realize the locks themselves are put of the puzzle because it helps them identify if they need letters, numbers, directions, colors, images, or to do something else to create the combination.
As a final strategy, we also tell customers to be thorough in looking through the locks they last opened because for sure it contained items that will help them unlock one, two, or even three more locks.
Every escape room theme can have a different goal. Usually if the goal relates to solving a puzzle in the room, most game masters will re-iterate the importance of remembering what the team is looking for. This information usually comes in handy towards the end of the room and does not need to be dwelled on constantly.
Whether customers escape or not, Ace of Escape, loves to see customers feel challenged and have a great time at the same time. Typically, most first time escape artists do not escape with just 3 hints and we re-iterate, it is not about IQ. Just like a board game and rolling the dice, a lot of luck can go into escape room. How quickly did team members find something all relates to where they randomly started to search. Did finding something cause others to stop looking and miss important information? Did you find something that you for sure think relates to a puzzle and your mind couldn’t let it go causing you to lose time because you were right it was a puzzle, but didn’t realize you were still missing something? Or did you wait too long to ask for hints or ask for clarification on a hint?
Many factors can go into escaping or not escaping, but the beauty of an escape room is that if you focus on the fun you had trying versus the end goal you are guaranteed to feel good. Once groups have five or six escape rooms under their belts, these strategies become easier, but there’s always a bit of luck that will play into the game.
